I've just checked my page and noticed that the last journal is dated Wed Oct 29, 2008, 11:42 AM! OMG! It's been aaaages!

Happy New Year 2009!
Well, Happy New Year to all! 2009 is expected to be a rather tough year. However, it's a brand new one - only 23 days have passed. So we still have 342 days to make 2009 a Great Year indeed!!! We'll try our best then, will we?!XD

Student for once more! Free Lancing!
The last 1 1/2 months of 2008 passed so fast. I actually started my Graphic Design classes and at the very same time I began working as a free lancer for a company some friends operate. Fascinating!... but also so stressful(regular work hours + classes 3 days a week (18:00 - 20:30) + free lance projects...) Hum... Indeed, I needed some extra caffeine!

Illustrator & Photoshop. InDesign & Corel Draw to come...
Well, the hard part is over! My classes are more rare now (once a week or something). I've obtained a good idea of Illustrator and I'm finishing up my Photoshop polishing! My teacher is a great professional with vast experience and so eager to provide knowledge and know-how on every aspect of graphic design. And so friendly and fun. I'm sooooo lucky!

Thank God, work is keep coming on its own!
Hopefully, projects keep coming in a tempo that I may find difficult to follow. It seems like I need to adjust to my new every day schedule. It's so good to have work to do in these difficult times. In other words, I need to be more self disciplined as I'm working from home further to my day job, which I'll keep as is. Well, my spouse is rather complaining while I try my best to meet deadlines. I surely need to fix this! O_o

Free Lancing - TO DO LIST
1. A brand new pc
With all these keep coming I realised that I need to purchase a new pc to fully support my work. My poor laptop (a Sony VAIO split into two so that my spouse may use it too!) is having tough times with Illustrator and Photoshop running simultaneously. Grrrhhh... So, it's high time I did something for this. I'm thinking of building up a new desktop pc with a "little help from my friends" (as Beatles said! hi hi hi...)! And of course purchase a fairly good monitor too. I guess I'll need something like 1,200 euro to accomplish this. I've started saving for this since Xmas and I'll use every cent earned from my free lance projects too (so I need to work seriously for the next couple of months).
2. Corel Draw software
3. InDesign software
4. Tablet
My brother-in-law gave me a little present. A digital (wired) pen for getting around my way in design. To be honest I never got the time to install it and try it out. Perhaps I may do that in the next few days. Of course the next thing would be to purchase a lovely tablet!
5. Design a website & portfolio
Perhaps I should be doing my hard copy portfolio by now! Get a nice book to gather all my work up to current date before it will be a nice mess!

Perhaps this not the first time I have the feeling that getting started with a new subject, as working as a freelance graphic designer, demands more than thinking and exploring possible benefits! It's the fact that I need a strong "kick", as I usually refer to, to made up my mind and make a fresh start.

This time the possibility to start working in a different field was boosted by a work proposal. And of course the good patience and support of my friends, especially here in DA, made things much easier! Given this opportunity, I'd like to say a HUUUUUUUGE THNX to *dancingelf, ~kittycat299 and of course ^znow-white. They all have been really supportive, sweet and caring. I'm really happy and proud to have you guys!!! You worth a million!

This week I checked out some ECDL and software learning centres so I will be starting Photoshop classes next week, and then move to CorelDraw, InDesign and Illustrator. I'm really happy about this! I'm counting days!!! Additionally, I'll make a long walk to Athens so that I will look for theory books to get an idea.

Hello and welcome to my journal!

Hopefully my work load is back to normal and I feel a bit relaxed. I need to find some energy to survive the winter time!

This week also brought a good opportunity to give a shot to, perhaps, a new career. I got a proposal for working as an external partner for graphic design work that this company occasionally needs, such as website banners, xmas e-cards and paper cards etc. The first thing I thought when I heard about it was "Brilliant! That may be the opportunity I was seeking to see my self working as a freelance graphic designer!"

However, "Am I ready to do so?" What I mean to say is that a guy like me that learnt a little bit about Photoshop through tutorials in the net is ready to carry out such a task? To be frank about this I fear that I cannot really produce something in Photoshop and get it ready to hand it to the print house (put print marks etc.) Let alone Photoshop is the only design software I know about... Perhaps, CorelDraw and InDesign maybe handy for leaflets and similar material. Thus I'm puzzled!

I must admit that I feel really awfully responsible to take such a decision. This was proposed through a friend and I wouldn't like him to be in a difficult position if I screw up. Of course this will be beyond my day work, which I'll keep as is, so my now free time will be limited and dedicated in this.

I have a few days to think about this so... I will be really happy if I had a friendly advise.

Hello and welcome to my journal!

The past week had been really exhausting. Preparing material for and setting up an exhibition booth plus a heavy weekend schedule made me really tired, not in the mood to do anything. Hopefully, this is over... Phew... One more exhibition to go and then we'll get back to normal.

This week I plan to finish up some new wallpapers so stay tuned!
